William Peter Grasso, author of the Miles and Moon Brothers combat series was nice enough to pay me a few compliments. Check out what he had to say below.

One of the few tasks more difficult than living in the continuous anxiety of a combat zone is writing an engaging account of that life, be it fact, fiction, or a combination of both. In DODGEBOMB, Darin Pepple succeeds ably in that task. The author makes the reader taste combat’s euphoric rush as well as that anxious emptiness when the fight ends as suddenly as it began.

He clearly illustrates how warfare, though an intensely personal experience, is a team effort, with some participants rising to—and above—its challenges while others are incapable of doing so. At the story’s height, he plunges us headlong into the indifference of sudden, random death that leaves its numbing and irrevocable imprint on the living.

Through it all, he weaves the boredom and busywork of Army life at the sand-choked outposts of Iraq while laying bare the military’s methodical attempts to crush an individual’s illusions and aspirations. I highly recommend this book.
